WEDDING PLANNING

June 22, 2013

Ever since getting engaged in April we have been looking at wedding venues. The feel we want for our wedding is vintage and rustic yet chic and romantic. We knew a barn would be the perfect setting to exude that vibe and I'm so excited that we have finally booked the most amazing venue for our Vermont wedding next summer! The Round Barn in Waitsfield, Vermont is an absolute dream.

I've been putting together my wedding inspiration board on Pinterest for some time now ( I confess, it began even before there was ring on my finger... what girl hasn't?!) Here are some of my favorite inspiration photographs that really give a sense of the feel I want for the wedding.

Think mason jars, candles, wild flowers, and lace. The bridesmaids will be wearing peachy pinks and we're thinking grey for the groomsmen. Now that we have the venue booked its time to start looking into photographers, DJs and I'm sure a bunch of other things that we haven't even thought about! So far the planning process has been really fun and exciting. Oh and did I mention I FOUND THE DRESS?! Can't wait to marry my best friend next summer!

BONNAROO 2013

June 18, 2013

(photos snapped from my instagram)

This year was our third adventure to Manchester, TN to sweat in the southern heat and listen to amazing musicians with good friends. This year did not disappoint. My favorite concert by far was Paul McCartney. I grew up listening to the Beatles so actually getting to see one live (and play Beatles hits) was definitely a highlight in my life. The experience was unbelievable and quite emotional (thank you to the lady standing next to me for the tissues!) Some other top concerts on my list were The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, and Empire of the Sun. It was also fun discovering bands I had never heard of before!

The thing about big music festivals is that while its awesome to be able to wander around and see so many bands it can also be extremely exhausting. You really have to prioritize who you want to see because its very hard to rush around and try to catch a little bit of everything.

The experience of Bonnaroo is definitely a unique one. I didn't bring my camera into the shows this year so I only have a few pictures taken with my phone. Check out the complete lineup and photos from the weekend!

CHEERS TO ME!

June 6, 2013

This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now... (with this song playing in the background) because I GOT THE JOB!!! I'm leaving the oncology world and becoming a neonatal nurse! I've always wanted to work with tiny humans ever since I began nursing school and I finally have the opportunity to work in the NICU! I've learned so much this past year working as an oncology nurse and am so grateful for the experience... it really takes a special person to be an oncology nurse (and I have learned from MANY special people on my unit). It will be bittersweet to say goodbye to my fellow co-workers but I am so excited and ready for this change! Time to celebrate :)

Other than getting a new job we've been making some beach trips and working on planning our WEDDING (more to come on that)! So many positive things are happening right now...

(Memorial Day weekend at the beach)

ALSO Bonnaroo is in a week! This music festival is sort of an annual event for us and we are both so pumped to meet up with some good friends and listen to amazing artists!

CHARLESTON, SC

May 2, 2013

For my birthday my parents came to visit and the four of us (Mom, Dad, Austin and I) drove down to South Carolina. We stayed at a charming estate in Summerville, a town right outside of Charleston. We arrived on my birthday and had plans to go out to a nice dinner in the city. Little did I know Austin had a horse drawn carriage waiting for me to give us a tour of historic Charleston before taking us to dinner. When we were down one particularly cute and quiet alley way Austin got down on his knee in the carriage and proposed! Needless to say I was VERY surprised... and of course I said yes!! We had a wonderful dinner with my parents and celebrated with a nice bottle of champagne from Austin's family. The rest of the vacation was just as magical. We toured Magnolia plantation and its beautiful gardens, spent a day at Folly Beach and ate delicious steamed crab, and spent a few days exploring Charleston. We also met up with some family which was wonderful!

LITTLE WASHINGTON

March 30, 2013

Today was sunny and 70 degrees! Austin and I decided to make a last minute day trip to Little Washington, a cute harbor town about half an hour from Greenville. We walked along the boardwalk, breathed in the brackish air and soaked up some much needed vitamin D! Everyone was out walking with their dogs or getting their boats ready for the season. After our walk we grabbed lunch at a mediterranean restaurant overlooking the water. Then, of course, we checked out the antique shops and scored a few treasures for our apartment!
